Our neighbors Birgit and Struan had to remove a Silver Maple tree from their backyard. The tree was dying, and they were devastated to lose it. They invited us over before the tree removers removed everything, and we picked out a few choice pieces.
Iliac Crest (photos 1-6): Approximately 14” x 13” x 4”. This bowl currently resides with the owners of the deceased tree.
Silver Leaf (photos 7-10): Approximately 9.25” x 9” x 5”. This bowl currently resides with the owners of the deceased tree.
Partly Sunny (phots 11-13): Approximately 8.25” in diameter x 2-3.5” high. This bowl lives with Meredith & Miguel in Chicago.
Sapindales Sacrum (photos 14-17): Approximately 14.25” x 14.5” in diameter x 2-5.5” deep. This bowl lives with one of Bethany’s beloved dancing buddies, Dr. Gillian Beauchamp and her husband Dan Higgins.
Aperture (photos 18-20): Approximately 13.5” x 13” x 7.5”. This bowl lives with one of Bethany’s beloved dancing buddies, Dr. Gillian Beauchamp and her husband Dan Higgins.
Acer Orbuculum (photos 21-22): is the Proud Founder of the Order of the Sapindales Assembly. This stunning bowl is the largest (so far) of all our handcrafted bowls. If our math is correct, this would hold about 7 gallons of water. We haven’t tried that yet. Approximately 17.5” x 16.5” in diameter x 8.25” deep.
The last photos are images of the actual tree these bowl were made from. All bowls are finished with Betty’s Board Butter (beeswax & food safe mineral oil). Clean with a damp cloth. Dry immediately. Re-oil occasionally.
