Tyler Arboretum's Japanese Yew Earrings, $28
Tyler Arboretum's Japanese Yew Earrings, $28
These earthy wood-slice earrings were handcrafted from a Japanese Yew that was planted in the 1950’s at Tyler Arboretum that had to be removed due to their declining health in Feb. 2023. Each earring is unique with its beautiful grain pattern and deep orange color. Tyler’s staff graciously saved portions of the tree for us. They are extremely lightweight with antique brass lever-back or fish hook ear wires. They are nickel free. Carefully sanded and finished with Betty’s Board Butter (beeswax & food safe mineral oil). The large earrings are 2 1/8” long x 2” wide.
If you haven’t been to Tyler Arboretumyet, you should. It’s absolutely magical. One of the oldest arboreta in the northeastern U.S., Tyler Arboretum encompasses 650 acres of renowned plant collections, heritage and champion trees, historic buildings and 17 miles of hiking trails through woodlands, wetlands and meadows.
Our wooden jewelry is made from organic material and is not water-proof. You may want to remove your earrings before water based activities, like swimming or showering, so you may enjoy them longer.
