Siren #12: Golden Gate

$0.00

Peter L. Jensen and Edwin S. Pridham designed a loudspeaker, which they named the Magnavox (the Latin word for “great voice”). Other rudimentary loudspeakers had already been invented, but Magnavox’s new design represented the first practical moving-coil loudspeaker. Their goal was to advertise the Magnavox as a public address system.

Jensen and Pridham made refinements to the loudspeaker design. They conducted their first formal public demonstration at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, California, on December 10, 1915.

This is a 1920’s Gold Magnavox Radio Speaker Horn with reclaimed olive base.
