Siren #169: Rabbit²
Siren #169: Rabbit²
Rabbit²
If you say Rabbit Rabbit before you say anything else on the first of the month, you’ll have good luck for the entire month. Some people claim you need to say “Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit”, or “White Rabbit” or other hare versions – FDR thought that simply “Rabbits” would suffice; Gilda Radner thought “bunny bunny” was luckier. And others claim that if you forget to say anything Rabbit-like at the beginning of the day but say Tibbar some multiple of times at the end of the day, you’ll still have good luck.
Regardless, we’re claiming and extending this tradition – Sawdust Siren said “Rabbit Rabbit” “Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit” “White Rabbit” “Rabbits” and “bunny bunny” this morning, so we’re expecting good luck for at least the entire year. Oh, and we added “hare of the dog” for good measure as we launched this first horn of 2020.
This Model H Atwater Kent Radio Speaker Horn was originally manufactured in Philadelphia, PA in the 1920’s. This particular horn is approximately 19.5” tall with a 14.5” bell and has its original green logo. Rabbit’s base is made from a cherry mantle reclaimed from a house in Norristown, PA. The base is finished with Betty’s Board Butter (beeswax & mineral oil).
