Siren #216: Second Summer
Our Sawdust Sirens are old style acoustic amplifiers for your new phone's speaker. Simply put your phone in and have a listen.
This particular antique/vintage car horn from India is approximately 10.25” tall with a 3.5” bell and married to a reclaimed pine beam base from a house on the 300 block of Park Ave. in Swarthmore, PA. The base has several original stable hairline cracks. The whole piece is approximately 13” tall x 5” wide x 7.5” deep. This type of horn would have been mounted on the side of a car or motorcycle and used to have a reed and rubber ball attached to it. The base is finished with Betty’s Board Butter (beeswax and mineral oil). You may wish to re-oil your base occasionally.
If your phone has stereo options you may want to play around with mono and stereo settings to see which you prefer.
