Siren #235 & 236: Laverne & Shirley
Our Sawdust Sirens are old style acoustic amplifiers for your new phone's speaker. Simply put your phone in and have a listen.
Laverne (photos 1-8): This particular antique/vintage car horn is approximately 8.5” tall with a 6.5” bell and married to reclaimed walnut base. The whole piece is approximately 11.5” tall x 6.5” wide x 8” deep.
Shirley (photos 1, 9-15): This particular antique/vintage car horn is approximately 9” tall with a 6” bell and married to reclaimed walnut base. The whole piece is approximately 12.25” tall x 7” wide x 6.5” deep.
These types of horn would have been mounted on the side of a car or motorcycle and used to have a reed and rubber ball attached to it. The bases are finished with Betty’s Board Butter (beeswax and mineral oil). You may wish to re-oil your base occasionally. Each Siren is signed on the bottom of the base with the siren # and name. If your phone has stereo options you may want to play around with mono and stereo settings to see which you prefer.
