Siren #277-279: Chit chat, Small Talk & Yammer
Our Sawdust Sirens are old style acoustic amplifiers for your new phone's speaker. Simply put your phone in and have a listen.
Siren #277: Chit Chat (photos 1-3): This particular antique/vintage car horn is approximately 8” tall with a 3.75” bell with a screen and married to a base made from an unknown piece of wood (perhaps cypress).
Siren #278: Small Talk (photos 1, 4-6): This particular antique/vintage car horn is approximately 11.25” tall with a 3” bell and married to a base made from reclaimed poplar. The whole piece is 12.5” tall x 5 5/8” wide x 7.5” deep. Small Talk lives with musician Christopher B. Farrell and dancer Jillian Harris.
Siren #279: Yammer (photos 1, 7-9): This particular antique/vintage car horn is approximately 9” tall with a 5.5” bell and married to a base made from reclaimed poplar. The whole piece is 11.25” tall x 5.5” wide x 7.5” deep.
These types of horns would have been mounted on the side of a car or motorcycle and used to have a reed and rubber ball attached to it. The bases are finished with Betty’s Board Butter (beeswax and mineral oil). You may wish to re-oil your base occasionally. Each Siren is signed on the bottom of the base.
If your phone has stereo options you may want to play around with mono and stereo settings to see which you prefer.
