Siren #295: Hubbub
Siren #295: Hubbub
Our Sawdust Sirens are old style acoustic amplifiers for your new phone's speaker. Simply put your phone in and have a listen.
This Model L Atwater Kent Radio Speaker Horn was originally manufactured in Philadelphia in the 1920’s. It would have had a cast iron base with a speaker driver. It has its original brown label and is married to a reclaimed pine beam base. Hubbub stands approximately 17” tall with a 14.25” bell. The whole piece is 9.75” deep x 14.25” wide x 19.5” tall. The base is finished with Betty’s Board Butter (beeswax & mineral oil). You may want to re-oil the base occasionally. Each Siren is signed on the bottom of the base. If your phone has stereo options you may want to play around with mono and stereo settings to see which you prefer.
Hubbub currently lives with two kick ass artists in Philly.
