Hunka-hunka walnut!
Our friends Betsy and Norm went to an estate sale of a somewhat eccentric wood collector. When they stumbled upon an enormous dusty hunk of a walnut stump, filled with cracks and voids and concrete, they naturally thought of us. So, what do you do with a 125lb slab of wood and concrete? Throw it on the lathe to see what happens of course. What happened was a fair amount of jackhammer-like vibration, over a somewhat large number of hours.
And now… weighing in at a trim 14.5 pounds, Hercules is the heavy weight champion in our current collection of bowls. He’s about 14” in diameter and 9.75” tall. Finished with Betty’s Board Butter (beeswax & food safe mineral oil).
Not recommended for soup.
