Oak & Resin
Oak & Resin
These bowls were turned from our dear friends, Kate & Clayton Tejada’s beloved oak tree, that fell in a storm in 2019. This majestic tree was one of the reasons they bought their actual house and they often referred to their home as Casa Roble (The house of oak). This tree did not want to become a bowl of any kind. The wood was extremely easy to turn but terribly prone to cracking and exploding during the drying process. These particular bowls warped and developed several cracks that we then filled with resin. Finished with Betty’s Board Butter (beeswax & food safe mineral oil). Movement in the wood is normal and considered part of its charm. Clean with a damp cloth. Dry immediately. Re-oil occasionally. Re-oil occasionally.
