Siren #246: Incognito
Siren #246: Incognito
This unidentified aluminum Radio Speaker Horn was originally manufactured in the 1920’s. This mystery horn has a lot of patina with its original flaking black finish, missing label that appears to be diamond-shaped label topped with an ‘R’, and small hole in the back of the bell. If you know what kind of horn this is, PLEASE let us know! It stands approximately 18” tall with a 13.75” bell (whole piece is 21.5” tall x 13.75” wide x 13.5” deep). The reclaimed walnut wood base also has a lot of character with its all its original cracks, knots and voids with metal shards where there was likely a fence wrapped around the tree. The base is finished with Betty’s Board Butter (beeswax & mineral oil). You may want to re-oil the base occasionally. Each Siren is signed on the bottom of the base with the siren # and name.
If your phone has stereo options you may want to play around with mono and stereo settings to see which you prefer.
