Dogwood Bowls
Dogwood Bowls
These bowls were turned from our beloved dogwood tree in our front yard that died in 2019. We saved a few pieces of that tree in hopes of making something beautiful. These pieces are from the base of the trunk, which had rotted and was hollow. In the process of turning these particular bowls cracked and warped significantly during the drying process. We then filled some of the major cracks with resin.
Fractured Pelvis (photos 1, 3-9, 18): This is natural edge bowl is approximately 10-11.5” diameter x 1-5” deep.
Resin Dog (photos 2, 11-15): This oval bowl is approximately 8” diameter in one direction x 7” diameter in the other direction x 3.25” deep.
Dawg (photos 16-18): This shallow natural edge dogwood bowl is approximately 7 - 6” in diameter x .25- 3.5” deep.
Brindle (photos 18-20): This natural edge dogwood bowl is approximately 7- 7.5” in diameter x 2-4.25” deep.
Cleft (photos 21-22): Approximately 7” in diameter x 5” deep.
Cheeky (photos 23-24): Approximately 4.75” in diameter x 2” deep with a beautiful hole in the bottom where a knot fell out.
These bowls were finished with Betty’s Board Butter (beeswax & food safe mineral oil). Clean with a damp cloth. Dry immediately. Re-oil occasionally.
